2nd Place in the Volleyball Tournament

The NEWCHAA Eagles take 2nd place in their last volleyball tournament in Waupaca!

This was a VERY exciting weekend for our team!!! There were 5 teams in the tournament and the girls were playing at their absolute best. It was a double elimination tournament so a team had to be beat twice to move down. The girls played against the Waupaca team twice and gave them a good run for their money both times. There were times when this mama thought she might have a heart attack from anxiety it got so close. The Waupaca team had won the state title for their private school division the year prior. We were the only homeschool team represented.

Our Fieldtrip to Lindquist Machines

This is a group photo taken inside the building. Lindquist Machines manufactures special order machines for various companies. I was unable to take many pictures due to the patents on the machines they were making. They also manufacture parts for machines. The fieldtrip was interesting but it was hard to see too much up close due to the dangerous nature of what they were doing or just because it was still in its development stage. We all had to wear safety goggles which is why our eyes all look funny!

The Twins at School

This is where the twins and I usually do school so I can sit in between them. I like to think that I will just sit here helping them along but alas I am often jumping up and moving from one seat to the next assisting them with the angles of their books or how they are holding their pencils or teaching them how to make the number "8" - I have seem some amazing number "8"s lately - the squiggles kind of go everywhere!
Here we are learning the difference between the big hand and the little hand on the clock. Notice in this photo that Caleb is writing with his left hand but he is quite ambidextrous. He usually writes his letters better wiht his left hand and I've heard it is better to not let them keep switching hands so I've encouraged him to keep with his left...even though it's trickier for me.

Fires = Saving Money

Snuggling by the Fire...
In an effort to keep our heat off and our costs down, Dan made a fire about every other day when the weather cooled here in Wisconsin. We all enjoyed lots of time together in the living room where it was warmest and the atmosphere was cozy. We went through a lot of firewood and now need to find some trees to take down somewhere :) We kept our heat off until November 3rd - yeah!

Andrew at Archery

Here is a picture of Andrew at his archery class. Due to our financial situation, Andrew paid for his own archery class. This was offered through our homeschool group. He has his own bow and arrows that we had purchased in previous years due to his interest. Now he wants a compound bow - they fly much faster! The class was 8 weeks long and they have lots of real life targets to shoot at - various animals of different sizes and some hidden behind others. There were over 30 kids in his class. I haven't asked him why - but many of the kids call him Robinhood!
